Welcome to Morocco. Your 12-day Morocco itinerary begins when our local guide meets you at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. They will greet you and help you get settled before the tour begins.

Your first visit is the impressive Hassan II Mosque, one of Casablanca’s most famous landmarks. Admire its detailed tilework, marble decoration, and oceanfront setting. Its towering minaret is among the tallest in the world, and the mosque’s scale makes a strong first impression.

Next, we’ll drive to Rabat, Morocco’s capital. Visit the historic Hassan Tower and walk through the Oudayas Kasbah, where white-and-blue streets and old walls offer a glimpse into the city’s past.

After the day’s sightseeing, we’ll take you to your accommodation in Rabat so you can rest comfortably. If your flight arrives at night, we’ll transfer you directly to your Casablanca hotel instead. You’ll then begin the tour the following morning.

After breakfast at your hotel, we’ll leave Rabat for Chefchaouen, a beautiful town in Morocco’s northern Rif Mountains. The drive takes about four hours and passes through rolling hills, rural villages, and scenic mountain views.

Once you arrive, check in at your riad and enjoy some free time in town. Chefchaouen is known for its blue-painted streets, narrow alleys, and peaceful Medina. Take a walk through the old town, where every turn brings a different view of its colorful walls and doorways.

The souks are also worth visiting. Local craftspeople sell handmade goods, textiles, and other items that make memorable souvenirs. When you need a break, stop at a cafe or restaurant for traditional Moroccan dishes and a cup of tea.

Chefchaouen gives you time to enjoy local culture at an easy pace. Keep your camera ready for the town’s beautiful streets and the mountain scenery around it.

After breakfast at your riad, we’ll drive through the Rif countryside and its small villages before reaching Volubilis, an ancient Roman city.

Walk among the well-preserved ruins and see mosaics, public buildings, and other remains dating back to the 3rd century. The site offers a close look at Roman life in this part of North Africa.

After visiting Volubilis, we’ll continue to Meknes, which was Morocco’s capital during the 17th century. Enjoy lunch in the city before exploring its historic Medina. The old walled quarter includes Bab el Mansour, a grand gate decorated with detailed tilework and carvings.

We’ll also visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, a religious site dedicated to the Moroccan sultan who made Meknes his capital.

Later, we’ll drive to Fes, where your riad will be ready for the evening. Settle in and relax after a full day of history and sightseeing.

After breakfast, meet your local guide for a full day in Fes. The city is known for its historic Medina, traditional crafts, and important cultural sites.

Begin at the Royal Palace, where the large golden gates offer an impressive introduction to the city. From there, enter the narrow streets of the old Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

During the walking tour, you’ll see Al-Qarawiyyin University, Al-Attarine Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the Chouara Tanneries. Your guide will explain the history of each place and point out the architectural details along the way.

The tour also includes the Mellah, Fes’ historic Jewish quarter. This area offers insight into the city’s Jewish community and its place in Fes’ history.

Before returning to your riad, visit an old fortress on the hill above the city. From there, you can enjoy wide views over the Medina and Fes.

Your guide will help you make the most of the day while giving you time to appreciate the city’s history, architecture, and local traditions.

After breakfast, we’ll leave Fes and head toward the Merzouga Desert. Our first stop is Ifrane, a pleasant mountain town known for its clean streets, cool climate, and European-style architecture.

The route then crosses the Middle Atlas Mountains, with views of forests, valleys, and high mountain roads. We’ll stop in a cedar forest, where you may see Barbary macaques living among the trees. Watching these native animals in their natural habitat is one of the day’s highlights.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll continue toward the Ziz Valley. Its long palm oasis creates a striking contrast with the dry surroundings.

By afternoon, we’ll reach the Merzouga Desert and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Ride a camel across the golden sand and stop on a high dune to watch the sunset. As the light changes, the dunes take on warm shades of gold and orange.

After sunset, continue to your desert camp and settle into your private tent. Enjoy dinner with traditional Moroccan dishes, then gather around the fire for local drumming and Berber music beneath the stars.

Rise early for sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, choose a camel ride or a 4×4 transfer to the town of Merzouga.

The day’s visits begin in Khamlia, a village known for Gnawa music. Local musicians will share the distinctive rhythms and melodies associated with this musical tradition, which has roots in sub-Saharan Africa.

Next, take an off-road drive to M’Fis, an abandoned settlement linked to former galena mines. Explore the remains of the village and learn about the miners who worked there. Galena was once used in the production of kohl and mascara.

Later, meet a nomadic family living near the Erg Chebbi dunes. Their traditional way of life takes place in Berber tents, away from modern urban centers. Share a cup of tea and learn about their daily routines and customs.

After lunch, relax at a comfortable riad and cool off in the pool. In the late afternoon, you can add a quad-bike or buggy ride and enjoy views of the desert at sunset. You can also walk among the dunes at your own pace.

Dinner and a quiet night at the riad follow your time in the desert.

After breakfast at your riad, we’ll travel toward Dades Gorge.

Along the way, we’ll stop in Rissani, a historic town with a lively traditional market. The market is busiest on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Walk through the stalls to see local produce, spices, clothing, and handmade goods.

We then continue to Todra Gorge, where the Todra River cuts through tall rocky cliffs. Walk through this dramatic valley and take time to appreciate the changing views along the route.

Later, we’ll head toward Dades Gorge. Near the gorge, unusual rock formations are often called the “monkey fingers” because of their shape. The surrounding valley includes rugged cliffs, cultivated areas, and stretches of green vegetation.

After the drive through the Dades Valley, arrive at your hotel for the night. Relax in your room and enjoy a comfortable evening before the next day’s journey.

Today we’ll travel toward Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa” and the “Gateway to the Desert.” The city is home to Atlas Studios, Morocco’s largest film studio. Visit the studio to see sets used for well-known movies and television productions.

Afterward, continue to Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s best-known kasbahs and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortified village has appeared in productions such as “Prince of Persia,” “The Mummy,” and “Game of Thrones.”

Walk through its old passageways and admire the earthen buildings, towers, and defensive walls. Your guide will share details about the site’s history and architecture.

Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before crossing the High Atlas Mountains. The mountain road offers wide views and several good places for photographs.

By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Marrakech. Check in at your riad in the Medina, then enjoy dinner at the riad or at a restaurant near Jemaa El Fna Square.

Enjoy breakfast at your riad before meeting your local guide. During the tour, you’ll visit several of Marrakech’s best-known landmarks, including Jemaa El Fna Square, Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the Koutoubia Mosque.

Your guide will explain the history of the Medina, show you important architectural details, and help you experience the city’s lively streets at a comfortable pace.

After lunch, choose how you’d like to spend the afternoon. Visit the modern part of Marrakech and the peaceful Majorelle Garden, or return to your riad for time by the pool or a quiet break.

Later, walk to Jemaa El Fna Square and take in its evening atmosphere. A rooftop cafe is a good place to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset over the city. Finish the day with dinner near the square before returning to your riad.

Today we’ll drive from Marrakech to Essaouira, a coastal fishing town surrounded by 15th-century Portuguese fortifications.

Essaouira combines a relaxed beach setting with a historic UNESCO-listed Medina. Walk through the city gates and explore the narrow streets, blue doors, lively souks, and small artisan workshops. The Medina is easy to explore on foot, and its location beside the beach makes it simple to combine sightseeing with time by the ocean.

Stop at a cafe with a terrace when you’d like to rest. You can also visit local woodcarving workshops and artists’ shops, which are part of Essaouira’s long creative tradition.

The town’s sea air, historic walls, and relaxed pace make it a pleasant change after the busy streets of Marrakech.

Spend the morning enjoying more of Essaouira before returning to Casablanca. You can walk along the beach, visit the Medina, browse the souks, or look for handmade products in local workshops.

Afterward, we’ll begin the drive to Casablanca. The journey takes about four and a half hours and passes through changing views of Morocco’s countryside and Atlantic region.

Once we reach Casablanca, check in at your hotel and settle in for your final night. Take time to rest and look back on the places you visited during your 12-day Morocco tour.
